Our back to school drive was a success, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor who provided backpacks and supplies for everyone.
Although Friends of Humanity is not affiliated with any religious organization or denomination, we are grateful for the support of Miami Shores Presbyterian Church. Church members have been very active in collecting donations for distribution to the children of House of Hope and in assisting with all our projects, including installing plumbing. On a recent trip to Haiti, board president Renel Noel and volunteer Andrew Hayward Smith documented House of Hope and Beraca Medical Center in photographs. Beraca Medical Center has no running water or indoor plumbing. Patients and doctors must walk 300 feet outside the hospital to use outhouses without hand washing facilities or toilet paper.
On Memorial Day weekend, Friends of Humanity president Renel Noel went to Port-de-Paix, Haiti with Andrew Hayward Smith.
